Bonn/ Sankt Goar

Today was another pretty chill day. We didn't really have too much planned, which was nice. We started off with breakfast at Base Camp Bonn, then packed up and headed out of Bonn towards Sankt Goar on the Rhein River.

But we almost forgot about the Haribo gummy bear store in Bonn! Luckily, we remembered in time and made our way there! All I can say is it smelled like heaven.

Then we were back on the road towards Sankt Goar. We checked into the Rheinhotel- we even have a balcony! The man in charge is super nice and gave us all kinds of great advice about things to do around town!

Next, we left on our Rhein River cruise around 2:20. The cruise took us town to Bacharach- which is very fun to say. It took about an hour to get there. The boat dropped us off and we had about an hour and a half to spend in Bacharach.

The Lorelei rock

Big surprise here, we spend a good portion of it looking for something to eat. We were looking for a restaurant that had spaetzle, but we didn't find a single one with spaetzle- lots of pizza though. So we settled for some cheese covered pretzels from a little bakery that were quite good. Then we checked out the ruins of an old church and took in the view.

We'll call this "I'm so sick of climbing stairs" look
Then we shopped for some souvenirs for a bit- mom got some wine glasses and I got some souvenirs for my Missouri roomates! Then it was time to head back to the boat.
The ride back was much faster- only about 40 minutes.
Mom decided that she wanted to test out her new wine glasses on the boat so she went inside to get us some wine. She thought she would be all smart and try to tell them in German. They ended up handing her 2 beers instead of wine. Whoops!
We got off the boat and headed back to our hotel to drop off our souvenirs and ran into the man who runs the hotel. He pointed us in the direction of a restaurant with spaetzle only a block from the hotel!

Heaven on earth
We left the restaurant feeling quite stuffed, but we still needed to break in those wine glasses. We found a little wine shop and drank the bottle on the balcony. The perfect way to end another wonderful day in Germany.

Rothenburg and Bonn

We started our morning off with breakfast at our bed and breakfast inside of Rothenburg. The man we stayed with has the most impressive moustache I have ever seen. His name is Norry and he even made a wood carving of his awesome stache.

Seriously that's impressive
Next, we walked around Rothenburg some more looking for the tower that lets you walk around the city in the walls.

We found it! I climbed to the top of the tower and mom waited below. Here are a few shots from above!

I love the blue house!

I came down and found mom- and a bee found her! She got stung right be her eye!

Next we headed to the Kathy Wohlfert store toe get some Christmas ornaments. Then we went to check out the Medieval Torture Museum- we were not impressed.

Shocker here- we got lost going from the museum trying to find our car. But, we just so happened to run into Norry! And he got us back on track! But, before we could leave Rothenburg, we had to have something to eat! We stopped at a cute little bakery and mom got a mandarin orange cheesecake with coffee and  got an apple danish with a cappuccino. All of it was great!

I forgot to mention I finally found a new hat! I was quite happy about that! We have been looking everywhere for one that wasn't made of felt! It is harder to find then you would think!
After our pit stop we did a bit more shopping, then said goodbye to good old Rothenburg!
Next, we started the 3 1/2 hour drive to Bonn where we are staying tonight. It was filled with lots of traffic and construction! But, it is the AutoBahn so we had to go fast- for at least a second ;)
102 MPH!
We arrive in Bonn around 5 and checked out our digs for the night- Base Camp Bonn! Super cute!

Our "room"

This should be interesting...
