Weekend in Pai

This weekend I went to Pai, Thailand. Pai is a big backpacker town here in northern Thailand and is a pretty touristy place with a very chill vibe- perfect for a quick weekend trip!
We took a bus from Chiang Mai after we were done with classes for the day. After a 3 hours bus ride around 700+ curves on the road, we arrived around 7. We went to our hostel to check in for the night and we found out that they had given our beds away because we didn't check in by 4pm. Things were not off to a great start. But we jumped on the internet and found a hostel that was in a much better location and could sleep all 7 of us for both nights so everything worked out for the best! It was pretty late by the time we got our housing situation figured out and ate dinner, so we checked out a couple bars and headed back for the night because we had a tour of Pai the next day that left at 8am.

We started our day at some hot springs which was perfect because at 8am Thailand is still pretty chilly!

Next was the Wat Phra That Mae Yen or the White Buddha. Unfortunately, the Buddha was under construction, but it was still a very pretty view of Pai.

The next stop was the Yun Lai viewpoint.

After that, we stopped at a Chinese village. This was one of my favorite things. They had a 4-person swing that we all tried. It was so fun!

Next was the I Love Coffee coffeehouse and viewpoint. It was nice to sip on some coffee and take in the view for a bit. Lots of beautiful mountains!

Then we headed to the Bamboo bridge. The trail led back to a temple which was closed- its only opened on Buddhist holidays. But it was fun to walk around on the bamboo bridge!

After that was the land split. Because of multiple earthquakes, the land here is literally split in half. It started as a small crack in 2008, but with more and more seismic activity each year the split grows and changes. The farmer who owns the land split cannot farm the land anymore because of the split, so instead, he turned it into a tourist attraction. He serves Roselle water, wine, and jam along with banana chips. He also has places to relax in a hammock.

Our final stop of the day was the Pai Canyon. It was beautiful! We got to explore a little bit and then picked a spot to watch the sunset over the mountains. It was the perfect end to a super busy day!

Sunday, we woke up and got some lunch at the rabbit cafe. Your order food or drinks and they literally sit a rabbit on your table. It was kinda strange but super cute! They have these animal cafes all over Thailand- there is a cat cafe here in Chaing Mai that is on my list of things to check out! After lunch, we caught our bus back to Chiang Mai. It was a quick trip but super busy! I had a lot of fun!

I'm currently borrowing one of my friend's phones and it is an iphone which has live pictures. So the pictures that have the play symbol on them are live pictures but it wont let you play the live picure so its just kinda in the way so sorry about that! Technical diffculties!
