Mom on the subway |
We finally arrived in Paris on July 16 around 10:30 am. We grabbed our luggage and headed for the subway! We had a tour booked to go up into the Eiffel Tower at 2:00, so we were in a little bit of a rush. We rode the subway for a solid 45 minutes- next to a lady who was carrying a cat in a bag which I found hilarious!

We got off and attempted to find where we would be staying the next 2 nights. This was no easy task because Mom and I are experts at getting lost. We finally found our room and by this point we were covered in sweat! Paris was 95 degrees today! By this point it was 1:15 and we had to make our way to the Eiffel so we wouldn’t miss our tour!

We had about 5 minutes to change and get ready for the day so the pictures are not our best moments… ;) But we did make our tour in time!

We had a tour guide who was awesome! She pointed out lots of well-known and important buildings and told us lots about Paris and the tower. Did you know in Paris buildings cannot be more than 7 stories high? First we went to the second level for our tour, then we went all the way to the top, which was super cool.
And of course, you can't go to the top of ther Eiffel Tower without getting a glass of Champagne right?
This city is so incredibly beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. All the buildings are so detailed and just simply beautiful. After spending some time more than 300 meters in the air, we decided to come down to the first level to walk on the glass bridge. Also very cool!
I just thought this was cute :) |
Then we decided to go ahead and do our Seine River Cruise. Our Eiffel Tower tour came with a Seine River cruise and passes to the Louvre, which we will be checking out tomorrow. The cruise was not my favorite to be honest. It was neat to see everything from the river but the river literally stinks. In my opinion, a river cruise is not a Paris “must-do.”

By this point, it was nearing dinner time and we hadn’t eaten since our breakfast this morning on the plane. We were hot, hungry, and grumpy and we needed food about 2 hours ago. We hopped in a cab that took us back near Notre Dame in search of a café to have dinner at. Mom and I both got crepes.
Mine was amazing- chicken, cheese, and tomatoes. Moms… not so much. She decided to try a goat cheese and walnut crepe, probably not her best decision. It was so terrible she could only eat half of it. To make up for it, we had to get dessert. Mom got Crème Brule which was divine! And I got Crème caramel- not my favorite it didn’t have a ton of flavor.
After our dinner we did a little bit of shopping, got lost yet again, and finally made it back to our room. Our room doesn’t have AC…. Its 95 degrees here. Mom has decided that “she could never be a pioneer woman, she needs AC.” Hopefully we survive the night……
Because of our flight delay, we missed a whole day and a half in Paris. So we didn’t really have a plan of what we were going to do today, we were just winging it. Hopefully tomorrow we can check some more things off of the Paris bucket list!
