Munich and Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Another hot day here in Germany! Around 95!

We started the day off in Munich and boy was it hot! We took a cab to check out the Theatine church and Feldherrnhalle. We got the Theatine church and apparently it is under construction because it was covered by tarps. We still went in anyway!

Can you find me?
Next we went in search for some breakfast! we wandered around the plaza and found a chalk board sign advertising apple strudel- which sounded amazing so we followed it!
We ended up at a cute little cafe! Of course, I got the apple strudel- which was to die for! It was hot and came with the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. Mom got a cake with some cherry's in it and some "American" coffee.

Next, we were off in search of the English Garden and the surfers! There is one part of the river that the city put in something to make big waves for people to surf on! It is really cool to watch!

After a hot walk around the garden, we decided it was time to cool off our feet for a little bit!

Then, we dried off and got a cab back to our hotel to pick up our car to start the 2 1/2 hour drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Thank goodness we were driving in the hottest part of the day- it was 97 degrees today! Our drive would have been a lot faster had we not run into more construction! For about 5 miles we were either at a standstill or going 10 mph max... talk about frustrating!
We eventually made it to Rothenburg! This little town is so cute! I love it! All the buildings are different colors and the town is full of people, shops, and restaurants.

We wandered around for a bit, then went to find some dinner! Mom had sauerbraten which is beef marinated in vinegar with red cabbage, and potatoes dumplings. I got flammkuchen which is very similar to pizza but it doesn't have any red sauce and the crust is very thin, Plus we got a liter of water because we were very thirsty! Everything was delicious!

After dinner, we walked around some more waiting for the Night Watchmen tour to start at 8. We may have gotten some ice cream while we waited as well.... SO GOOD!

Finally, it was 8 o clock and the night watchmen emerged! This tour was great! It gives a lt of historical background on the city and the watchman was hilarious! Definitely a must do!

That's all for today! Tomorrow we will check out more of Rothenburg, then head to Bonn!
